Has the once venerable name in news turned over its studios for partisan political activism?
September 29, 2004
Tuesday, September 28, 2004, just 3 weeks after the widely discredited story by 60 Minutes II using forged memos, CBS is back at it again. This time the claims are carefully crafted in such a way that they could easily be considered political propaganda. Goebbles might have been impressed.
CBS reporter Richard Schlesinger on the CBS Evening News ran a story related to the draft, clearly implying that the Republican administration under President Bush is going to invoke the draft to support military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Dan Rather prompts the segment with:
It's no secret: The all- volunteer U.S. Military, especially the Army, Marines and many reserve units, are stretched thin in Iraq and Afghanistan. So what about bringing back the draft? A lot of Americans are worried about that. Where do the presidential candidates stand?

CBS high priests think: It always went away before, we can't understand this NEW mind set of America.
This is a poison pill. This is the Democrats posing as pro-military. If the Repubs take the bait, though, the Dems will about-face so quick their heads will stop spinning for about a nano-second.
Most Dems of a "certain age" are pining away for their glory days back in the sixties when they were hip and relevant, and they can't get back to the garden without a draft and a war to rail against. They've got the war, but everyone is for it, and there's no draft to shake up the college kids. They can't stand it.
Be sure to take adavantage of the contact links for distributing this story far and wide.
Maybe CBS will be forced to finally turn on the DNC just to regain some limited and minimal credibility.
Wouldn't it be interesting if CBS were forced to note that it is the DEMOCRATIC PARTY that supports a draft!!!
You has that list of CBS affiliates with their email addresses? This message needs to go out a little more widely.

Can someone please tell me how CBS News and Mr,"Rather" report on the debates i'm curious if Rather will respond afterwards that "it seems no documents were actually necessary as tonight Presidential Candidate John Kerry presented irrefutable evidence of the President's guilt and incompetency to hold the office and Kerry is well on his way to such position."(add Rather's Pseudo Texas BS)
