What Carey, like all politically correct types, refuses to accept is that this IS a religious thing. And a facist thing. Islamofacism is the new Nazism. The sooner the world accepts that, the sooner it will be stamped out. What a jerk!
Considering that these "average Muslims" tolerate the presence of terrorists in their mosques with wild abandon, I'm not about to let 'em off the hook.

It is idiots like this that has caused people to walk away from the church (and christianity) in droves in Britain. What is it, something like 10% of the population even go to church or believe in God...thanks to men like this one!
While I think the distinction between Islamists and Muslims is an important one to make...it is one that must be made by Muslims, not the Anglicans. And it is pretty condescending and approaching racist for them to try to make it for Muslims.
As of now...Muslims have not made that all important distinction and started their own reformation. And I think the reason the distinction has not be clearly and loudly made by 'peaceful' Muslims is that they know that the Islamist interpretation is the stronger interpretation of their religion. The 'moderate' Muslims cower in fear of the radical Muslims...because in any contest the moderates would lose. They would be denounced as heretics as subjected to the barbaric penalties of the Koran.

Well, many of us do blame Islam for this because their evil deeds are a reflection of what Mohammed himself did, what he taught his followers to do, and what many of them have subsequently done throughout the centuries.

Yikes, after just having read Tony Blair's fantastic speech on the need to counter terrorists, I come across this piece of appeasement PABLUM by none other than the former Archbishop of Canterbury.
Talk about cowardice in the face of evil.... I thought those guys preached against evil all their lives. Now they turn tail and cower in their vestrys.
This is the enemy from within that we all need to fight in addition to the enemy from without.
