John Kerry flubs Good Morning America

GMA

John Kerry was apparently on Good Morning America and The Note snippets this baffling exchange:

DIANE SAWYER: Was the war in Iraq worth it?

JOHN KERRY: We should not have gone to war knowing the information that we know today.

DS: So it was not worth it.

JK: We should not — it depends on the outcome ultimately — and that depends on the leadership. And we need better leadership to get the job done successfully, but I would not have gone to war knowing that there was no imminent threat — there were no weapons of mass destruction — there was no connection of Al Qaeda — to Saddam Hussein! The president misled the American people — plain and simple. Bottom line.

DS: So if it turns out okay, it was worth it?

JK: No.

DS: But right now it wasn't?p>

JK: It was a mistake to do what he did, but we have to succeed now that we've done what he's — I mean look — we have to succeed. But was it worth — as you asked the question — $200 billion and taking the focus off of Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda? That's the question. The test of the presidency was whether or not you should have gone to war to get rid of him. I think, had the inspectors continued, had we done other things — there were plenty of ways to keep the pressure on Saddam Hussein.

DS: But no way to get rid of him.

JK: Oh, sure there were. Oh, yes there were. Absolutely.

DS: So you're saying that today, even if Saddam Hussein were in power today it would be a better thing — you would prefer that . . .

JK: No, I would not prefer that. And Diane — don't twist here. Notice how Kerry loses his cool and accuses the questioner of twisting; Is this guy thin-skinned or what?

In tomorrow's debate, Kerry will benefit from lowered expectations because his image among voters is something of a caricature right now. But he still has to do better than he did on GMA. You can bet President Bush has a list of zingers that he will deploy if Kerry gives him an opening. Posted by PoliPundit at 10:09 am Link to this post | Comments (21)

The construction trades run in my family, and I have not known one of them or their employees to actually indulge in sports in which they have a good chance of ending up too injured to work. My uncles wouldn't have been able to afford to hire these types as the workman's comp premiums' would put them out of business.
Most non union in these trades are not paid ENOUGH to stay home and recuperate. It seems that only when they get into the management end and can afford to get hurt do they take on Kerry's types of hobbies.

Most of the craftsmen I know love the more sedated sports of bass fishing, hunting, and 4 wheeling.

"This election of the year 2004 is the decision between life and death - literally."

You are absolutely correct. We are facing very identifiable and present enemies, thanks to the Kerryites and Clintonians who have already solidified the enemies' resolve to become the rulers of the world and the destroyers of progress.

It was every person's birthright to die of old age. That right has been usurped and will belong only to those who survive the battle.

The only question is, will death come sooner, rather than later? The election will determine that.

America is in the decision block. There can only be one exit. Towards victory over evil, or submission to evil. As America will go, so will go the world.

that the guys who go with him are carpenters and electricians. I'd love to know whether or not this is true""

In all the pics of sKerry on the water, etc, the only person I have seen in the pic is Thereza in his big boat, and some background people on the ski slopes.

If I am at a place recreating, with a large number of other people, I certainly do NOT refer to the other people as tho they are "WITH ME".
Clinton sure taught this guy how to speak. This kind of abuse of sentence structure and speaking would have gotten me a F in high school English.

Rush is discussing this now. He caught Kerry in another lie. He made these before and after comments in the afternoon not late at night as he stated this morning.

Actually, there was a thread about this on FR way before Rush's show started ;-)

He said "well, I've done that too, but they didn't take pictures of it." It was hilarious.

I saw it too! LOL! Diane holds up pantywaist pictures of Effin in his spandex windsurf and snowboard outfits. She asks it they're not...ahem...rather "elitist-looking".

In the other hand she holds up pictures of Bush clearing brush with his chainsaw. Kerry says: "I do that too, I just don't have pictures". Ha ha ha!!! Kerry clearing brush. Too funny!

Bless ya Dubya.

Diane also held up my fave...the one of Dubya with the chainsaw. But I couldn't find it.

In thinking about what traps the Dems are laying out for President Bush during the debates, it occurred to me that the one thing that would infuriate President Bush and perhaps cause him to lose control, is a reference to Laura Bush and the accident which caused the death of her friend.

Do I believe the Dems are that low? Yes. Of course, they may have one or two sane workers left in the Kerry campaign who might successfully argue against it.

To a question as to how his wife would enhance the position of first lady, Kerry might respond that Mrs. Heinz-Kerry can speak to foreign visitors in their own languages, and so on. Then, with an attempt at humor he might suggest that since she has a chauffeur, there is little chance of Mrs. Heinz-Kerry causing a fatal accident.

A Dem loyalist in DC suggested this scenario to friends of mine, as showing how determined Kerry is to show he is tough. My friends were appalled, which to the Dem was proof that "it'll work; it'll work." They were in a DC bar, a Dem hangout.

Faithincowboys, Max 7, if you read the article "Hunter, Dreamer, Realist...Complexity Infuses Senator's Ambition" by Washington Post writer Laura Blumenfield, you might come to the same conclusion that I did. That in their determination to kill Howard Dean's primary candidacy so that "electable" Kerry would be the Dem nominee, the media whores insured that the Dems would again nominate someone that even the least discerning voter might consider a head case.

Your debunking is false. There are repeated instances of Saddam's intelligence agents meeting with al Queda operatives and OBL himself in the Sudan and in Afganistan. These date back into the early 90s and are referenced in the 911 Commission Report.

It refers to multiple connections, meetings and agreements.

Anyone claiming there were no connections is a liar.

These DU poster comments are from the certifiably hallucinatory and delusional. Remember, just because one is mentally ill doesn't mean they can't have an internet home.

Who's on the panel of questionners for tomorrow's debate?

If there is a moderate to right of center in the bunch, their questioning to Kerry on Iraq should follow Sawyer's line of questioning to a t.

Make the man say what he means and mean what he says. Don't let him off the hook on this one!

the only thing that would do is open the way for Bush to point of what a nasty, mean, and irrosponsible candidate skerry is. Bush does not get "fuffled" Are you sure these dums weren't on drugs. ....Let me rephrase that. Are you sure these Dums had not doubled their doses of Zoloft.

I read the transcript twice and I still have no idea what Jabberwocky Kerry was saying.
I swear Homer Simpson is more articulate.
