Wow. Her request for Danbury, as a short-term, first-time, non-violent offender was not unreasonable. And her request to get things started, to end the delay (Oct 8!), after a couple months of requests to get to her punishment, is not unreasonable. Due process, after all, dictates timeliness. They are really jerking her around, making an example of her. (Yes, I understand her crime and her guilt and part in it.)
Whip that Martha a good'un seems to be the agenda. She must have made a boatload of powerful enemies. Has anyone from Enron gone to prison yet? They wiped out countless millions of employee retirement money, but I guess punishing Martha was more urgent....
Yes, the Feds are really making her an object lesson. If they overplay their hand, they will throw her in the general population where she will be subject to assault or worse.
I've read that Danbury is already overcrowded. should the Dept of Prisons be required to move prisoners around the country to meet Martha's desires? I don't think so.
Someone on the radio who is connected with the federal prison system said that the system likes to jerk around people who say they would like to go to a certain prison. Martha should have said she wanted to go to the W.VA prison and for sure they would have put her in Danbury.
Someone should have told her she's dealing with a bunch of s-heads. Or she should have been bright enough to figure that one out on her own.
