Take Our Poor, Huddled Leftists, Yearning To Be European

Take our poor, huddled leftists, yearning to be European Date: Monday, September 27 @ 15:55:28 CDT Topic: National Sovereignty by Michael Mina

Most observers of the presidential race think that the outcome will be too close to call in advance with any degree of confidence. A recent poll by the American Research Group confidently assigns President Bush 133 of 270 electoral votes needed to win the presidency, and Senator Kerry 132 electoral votes. The remaining electoral votes, more than half of the total, are too close to call.

This should be disconcerting to anyone wanting to see a more conservative America. In the last election, Al Gore even received more votes than President Bush. I say this not to challenge the legitimacy of the Bush Administration, as do many liberals unfamiliar with the workings of, or rationale for, the Electoral College, but simply to emphasize how close is the margin that stands between our having a conservative future and a leftist one.

Deep divisions still exist between Americans over the direction our country should take. "Sometimes our differences run so deep," President Bush said in his inaugural address, "it seems we share a continent, but not a country." The divisions may be even deeper now than they were when the president assumed office. And we don't even share a continent--not in spirit anyway. The heart of American leftism, indeed its very patriotism, now belongs to Europe.

Petr Mach, an adviser to the president of the Czech Republic, hit the nail on the head. In a letter to leftist author Jeremy Rifkin appearing on www.openDemocracy.net , Mr. Mach states "What you admire about Europe are policies influenced by intellectuals and bureaucrats rather than ordinary citizens. As a consequence, what you admire about Europe is its lack of freedom."

The European Union, that kinder, gentler Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, is representative of the kind of soft authoritarianism that leftists would like to see in America. The EU's democracy deficit is well known. In many cases, the unelected bureaucrats of the European Commission decide which issues can and cannot be voted upon. This, along with the ubiquitous welfare state, the loathing of the entrepreneurial, and the distaste for traditional religion, is partly why Europe is such a leftist utopia (scratch that - Utopia was envisioned by a dead white male, a Christian no less, and is therefore inappropriate.) European masses accept their servitude in meekness and humility, much to the delight of the leftist intelligentsia. This should not surprise us, since most Europeans freely voted to transfer sovereignty from their own parliaments to the nascent Kremlin in Brussels. Many American leftists have taken to criticizing the United States while in Europe, where they feel at home. Not just criticizing our current president, mind you, but the United States herself. And we conservatives ask leftists, but not seriously enough, "Why don't you live there?"

Incredibly, many Republicans are still blind to the fact that our current immigration policies (and lack of enforcement thereof) ultimately benefit the left by growing the welfare state and increasing dependency upon government, thus creating future Democrats. If they won't help alter those policies, perhaps they can be convinced to help restore the balance by encouraging leftists to emigrate, preferably to Europe or its North American appendage known as Canada. If we won't cease our intake of grist for the leftist mills, perhaps we can encourage the export of our homegrown leftists (excretion would be too strong a word, right?)

For the sake of America, we need to abandon our strategy of verbally defending her when leftists make accusations against her. Unless their accusations are made in the presence of many others and our goal is to prevent those others from being deceived, such a defense is counterproductive. Instead, we need to indulge leftist self-deception. When they unfairly criticize America, convince them that Europe or Europe-on-the-border (a.k.a. Canada) would be a better place for them to live. Reassure them that they would find more like-minded people there, and their views would be welcomed. Those places are more "progressive" and "inclusive." Be sure to use those exact words. MRI scans of the leftist brain indicate that the sound of those words is positively exciting.

Do not remind them that Europe has historically been incapable of solving its own problems without America, and that Canada has always been on the verge of splitting at the seams. If you do, this exercise will be for naught.

Convince the leftists that there are just too many conservatives in America. Even our last Democratic president had to be a centrist to get elected (yes, they actually believe that, so you must use it against them.) Some leftists will object that America is not really too conservative, and that President Bush "stole" the last election. Again, don't challenge them, but indulge their beliefs. Tell them the "problem" goes beyond the presidency! Congress is dominated by Republicans. And the Supreme Court that "stole" the election from Vice President Gore is too (again, we know the Court is too left-leaning, but to leftists, it's too conservative.) After all, how else could President Bush have won?

The left must be made to believe that resistance to the conservative agenda is futile. Demoralizing them is a means of defeating them more easily. "America is too conservative for you," you must tell them, "but Europeans would love you, and you'd be a perfect fit in their society."

So take our poor, huddled leftists, yearning to be European--preferably take them before Election Day. The European Union is leading the secession of Europe from Western Civilization anyway, and it may as well take our leftists with it. We would all be happier. Except for poor Mr. Mach.

Those on the Right, are in general, people who believe of themselves that they are fully capable of being self-sufficient and personally responsible. These are the sort who want personal control and management of their own lives and affairs.

On the Left though, it seems that these people are mirror opposites of those on the Right. These people, it seems, see themselves as being perpetually shortchanged in life. They are angry, whiney, resentful people who want a powerful father-figure to take control over the affairs of us all and make life 'fair'.

We don't want them in Britain, nor do our friends in Eastern Europe want them.

A point I've been making in conversations for a few months now. It's so true. It's as if they think that there's nowhere else for them to run to.

Guess what, lefties, there's tens of socialist countries waiting for your to suck the gov't teat. Where do *we* go? Is there a freer America elsewhere? No? Oh okay, then why don't you move to a place where everyone already thinks socialism is the cat's meow? This ain't it.

This country was never intended to be a socialist country, to any degree. Why the lefties insist on it being one I'll never know. There's already countries that fit their model all over the world, and they're already built. No construction necessary. Stop trying to change this unique and special place to look boring a gray like every other country full of scared lemmings that love the state.

If, in a political context, you buy into the 'doctrine of consenting adults', all leftists should willingly volunteer for relocation to a Euroweenie country of their choice and we can take in exchange an equal number of willing European conservatives. Muslims may emigrate at any time, but all Muslim immigration will be halted.

That would reduce the rancor and every one would be happier. It is a win-win peaceful solution.

I think that on one hand, Lefties are like the woman who insisted that Soloman cut the baby in half, not only in order that she could have her 'fair share', but also because she wanted to deprive the other woman of the baby. This is selfishess laced with malice, imo.

On the other hand though, Lefties worship their sense of suffering/martydom. They need to feel that they're being made to 'unfairly' suffer at the hands of bullies {that's us} in order to validate themselves. Their suffering also places them on the moral high ground......or so they want to believe.

And last but not least, Lefties are in search of salvation, which they believe they'll attain if only they can build a heaven on earth {socialist paradise where everyone is treated the same and where their god of sameness reigns supreme}. They can't achieve their goal though unless they first overcome and/or destroy the source of 'evil'........that's us again.

So although they say they aren't religious, they most definitely are. For they are zealous preachers with their entire congregation who are waging a crusade against the forces of evil {us} as they make their weary but triumphant way towards their heavenly home here on earth.

I too have offered the love-it-or-leave-it solution to leftists, but that "solution" ignores an obvious fact. The reason many leftists don't leave is because (1) they know they have it good here (2) they'd have it worse there and (3) it is the desire of many libs to make others act like they do...that is as long as they get to keep their perks why you live in a squalid hut, ride a bicycle to work (if you could get a job), eat rabbit food, and throw away your weapons. They get to ride in their private jets and multi-million dollar mansions with the ten luxury cars. In short libs know what's best for you and are determined to change the country to their vision of utopia. That is why the great majority of these ultimate control freaks won't ever leave.

"These people, it seems, see themselves as being perpetually shortchanged in life. They are angry, whiney, resentful people who want a powerful father-figure to take control over the affairs of us all and make life 'fair'."

It takes two distinct sets to make up "the left". One is the whiney, lazy and fearful mob you identified and the other are the elitist bureaucrats, self proclaimed intelligentsia, and celebrities who picture themselves running the show.

It takes both a perpetrator and a victim to get where they want to go.

Then I'm somewhat sad to say, looks like we'll be having another Civil War. Because I'm tired of them trying this stuff, I just want to be left alone. Naturally, everyone has to participate in the experiment. [rolls eyes]
