Wasn't this (blinding pilots in a cockpit with a laser beam) in a Clancy novel? Almost, in "Debt of Honor", Mr. Clarke and Mr. Chavez shined a very bright light, but a white light not a laser, into the cockpits of Japanese military AWACS.
