"The system is used to ignite logging debris from distances of 100 to 1,500 meters. The laser, costing $86,500, is mounted on a gun turret carried in a 2-ton truck and is simple to operate. Similar systems are available commercially throughout the world."
Aw dude, imagine the fun it would be playing - er - working with that! :-p Bushhogging the hill in back would become obsolete. (Nevermind it cost more than the entire property, it makes FIRE!) Um, sorry, got a tad carried away there.

Virtually all lasers that will cause anything remotely like blinding are invisible to the human eye.

Yes. I think Bill said it was a Delta flight.

'Don't you like acronyms that are made into nouns that are made into verbs?'
I prefer straight-forward info like:
"this guy was, like, flying, somewhere, and like, got hurt, where he got hurt in the, like, EYE".
If that is not available, then of course, like you, I prefer acronyms that are made into nouns that are made into verbs.

The word is slang to begin with, so neither spelling is 'correct' Not to pick nits, but "lase" certainly is a word. It's in the dictionary.
lase
intr.v. lased, las·ing, las·es
To function as a laser; emit coherent radiation by the action of a laser.

No, this was not a startled pilot. A laser illuminated the cockpit and injured his eyesight according to the report.

Hmm, "en route to SLC .. ", implies at cruising altitude; many commercial planes have pretty poor views from cockpit, wonder what made pilot look down ? Or did it come from another plane ?

Would you consider asking a moderator to edit your original post to include an explanation of lazing, or lasing? The humor on this thread (due to misunderstanding the post) isn't appropriate to such a serious development. Prayers that the pilot has no permanent injuries.

Greatland laser makes laser I carry in survival kits..... laser flare is the moniker they assigned to the device. It'll light up an AC from some distance for signaling purposes from the ground.

When someone besides Greta "Trial of the Century of the Week!!!" Van Blustern mentions this, I will give it the consideration that it deserves.
