I attended the Keyes rally at the Greater Chicagoland Airport at Rockford. More than 600 people showed up. The TV stations were there. The local news paper, the Rockford Register Star (www.rrstar.com), did not cover it. I have been told by someone who called them that Keyes would get no coverage since he couldn't win, and that he was akin to Ralph Nader.
As long as they have this horse race/football pool mentality (actually an excuse to hide their liberal bias), it will be hard for an underfunded campaign to break out.
I can say that Keyes beats Obama in Rockford in lawn signs by about 2-1. I have seen more Keyes signs than Bush signs.
