A great symbol of the rugged old West, or at least as it was portrayed by Hollywood, is riding off into the sunset.
The Ponderosa Ranch, an American West theme park where the television show "Bonanza" was filmed, closed on Sunday after its sale to a financier whose plans for the property are unclear. The show, which ran on NBC from 1959 to 1973, was the top-rated U.S. program in the mid-1960s.

My wife read this article on CNN and is near tears. Bonanza is her favorite TV show of all time and we watch it every night. It is a shame that they don't make shows like it any more. I think young people would enjoy show like this it if they would make them again.

The problem was nobody could find it as they burned the map in the opening credits.

The funniest one of all was the one with the Leprechans, who were driving Hoss crazy.

When the program was running, people who lived circa 1885 were still alive and able to watch the series.

I don't think it's an easy task to develop buildable lots on North Shore. To the Tahoe area residents, didn't there used to be some kind of lottery to allow building on one's lot?

Bonanza taught me as a little kid that older women who weilded power as a matriarch were hot in a strange sort of way. I'll take Barbara Stanwyck over Florence Henderson any day.
