It would seem that the scoffers at morality and the historical ideals that made this free republic great have taken over our beloved FR.

Getting hard to tell them from Democrats.

I find it rather disturbing as well to hear the comments from those who have posted, EternalVigilance.

It would seem that the scoffers at morality and the historical ideals that made this free republic great have taken over our beloved FR.

My retort to this is that in general, libertarianism has turned a scoffing eye on moral opinion. I consider myself a Christian libertarian because I believe government should allow me to make my own social, political, economic and moral choices. But government should also protect individuals from other individuals who might harm them. Mocking moral choices in government and law and those who espouse that we as a society should make them seems more like anarchy than freedom.

I take the comments above to mean that those who preach "morality" despise civil liberty as some libertarians do. Libertarianism of the type espoused by Ayn Rand and others leans more to that of the "Civil Libertarian" which espouses a doctrine accepting of the hedonist. I hate to be too harsh, but to call Alan Keyes a "whackjob" demeans the political debate to the level which you rightly attribute to the Democrats.
