The Whirlwind
The Fifth Column ^ | 09-27-2004 | Steve Kellmeyer

Florida hurricanes have delivered two body blows, an uppercut and a vicious right hook, transforming the Sunshine State into an awesome example of what a whirlwind can do. Catholics in America should take careful note.

It has long been the contention of pro-life supporters that geographical location cannot define personhood. A child is a child no matter where that child is located. It cannot be the case that the individual in question becomes a child when she is outside the womb, but remains only a tissue-mass when she is inside the womb.

The USCCB finds the geographical argument compelling in another context, however. Apparently, geographical location does define heresy. For example, John Kerry, Frances Kissling, Ted Kennedy and all the rest may be Catholics in good standing when they step on a plane in Boston, but they are not Catholics in good standing when they step off that same plane in St. Louis. Heresy is diocese-specific.

Your first paragraph may be the single worst example of Bulwer-Lyttonism since "It was a dark and stormy night."

Oh, and welcome to Free Republic.

Here, this link works better. More

Niner, a potential candidate!

NYer, a ping list would be helpful to introduce Mr. Kellmeyer to the FR Catholic Caucus

Wow.

A most interesting theory which (unfortunately) is compelling.

Per the suggestion above, perhaps you'd like to consider membership in the Tomas Torquemada Gentlemen's Club.

This club is composed of a dozen or so members. There are no dues and no meetings. The general purposes are two: to stand ready to act in the fashion of TT in defense of the Faith against ALL those who would defile Her; and secondly, to advance the cause for beatification of TT.

There are some requirements for having 'necessary items,' such as a good deal of firewood, the mechanical aptitude to operate certain devices and items of equipment necessary for the proper administration of punitive justice, and a willingness to listen carefully to testimony.

The TTGC also has a valuable and estimable Ladies' Auxiliary which assists in the foregoing and provides cucumber sandwiches and other refreshments. They are required to wear hats for all TTGC meetings and trials.

Please consider this invitation carefully. We look forward to your early and positive reply.

Our voting membership pinglist is notified of your candidacy by ping to this post.

Excellent article.

'way back when, when I was an Altar Boy, my pastor was convinced that there would be open, formal schism in the Church in America with my lifetime.

Nodding, and hoping whilst helping to prepare Des' infamously delicious cucumber sandwiches.    :)

Sir! I have never been known to turn down cucumber sandwiches.

My skills are as follows:
I have successfully barbecued both chickens and the remains of cows,

My study of the Inquisition leads me to believe TT was (somewhat) maligned, to whit, he bathed much more often than people assert.

I would like to apply for membership. Comfy pillows available upon request.

Blessed TotusTuus?

Oh, sorry. Nevermind.
