Please refresh my memory as to where I labeled "most Americans" as "repulsive stinkers".
Self-indulgent? Probably. Idealist? Most definitely, but also a realist.
Elitist? Hell no. Im at a loss as to where you came up with that particular assessment. I am no sycophant of GWB, but make no mistake, I am voting republican these days. My gripe is precisely the same as your was back in your less pragmatic days, my friend:
I'll take some arbitrary freedom as opposed to some state control--but there is no objective reason why I(or anyone else)shouldn't have complete self-autonomy.
On the subject of the libertarian party...its a damn shame.
"On the subject of the libertarian party...its a damn shame."
A casualty of a two party system, along with viable groups on the left. The pressures to conform to form that magic 51% are often greater than standing for what one believes is truly right, on either side of the fence.

I suspect democracy would be better served with four or five parties of relatively equal size corresponding to the regions in the above quiz.
Of course, four/five party compromise would probably lead to the same result - centrism with some leaning towards one pole or another...likely not as strongly libertarian as the breakdown suggests, though... being a libertarian site, its viewership is skewed of course.
