Soros Resurfaces to Bash Bush, Boost Kerry
(1st Add: Includes additional details about George Soros' press conference.)
Washington (CNSNews.com) - Billionaire financier George Soros reemerged in the presidential race Tuesday to announce a multimillion-dollar advertising campaign and nationwide speaking tour to criticize President Bush.
Soros vowed to spend up to $3 million to refocus the anti-war message and intensify the attacks on Bush's handling of Iraq. As an ardent supporter of Sen. John Kerry's presidential bid, he also hopes to help defeat Bush in November.
"The situation in Iraq is dire because we are damned if we stay and we are even more damned if we pull out," Soros said. "We have got to find an orderly exit. And I think that [Kerry] is much better situated than President Bush, and his approach, which is that you have to find a political solution and you can't do it only by military means, is the right answer."
But Soros' latest venture does not come without its risks. The Republican National Committee called it an act of "desperation" on the part of the Kerry campaign. Because of his controversial views on crime, drugs and guns, Soros has become one of the left's most polarizing figures.
"The only explanation for the Daddy Warbucks of the Democratic Party, George Soros, to step out from behind the curtain 35 days before the election is his obvious concerns for his investment in John Kerry," RNC spokesman Jim Dyke said in a statement.
Soros' new campaign actually targets Republicans and influential business leaders, but the billionaire has also angered many on the right for donating more than $15 million to left-wing 527 groups with the sole interest of defeating Bush and other Republicans.
His 12-city speaking tour begins next week in Pennsylvania and continues through the battleground states of Ohio, Florida and Minnesota until Oct. 26, just one week before the Nov. 2 election.
Soros plans to run a two-page centerfold ad Wednesday in the Wall Street Journal and similar ads in local newspapers throughout the country. He will mail his anti-Bush speech to 2 million homes and offer a free chapter of his book on his website.
The offensive is aided by Fenton Communications, the left-wing public relations firm that counts MoveOn.org as one of its top clients. The firm's chairman, David Fenton, positioned himself beside Soros at Tuesday's press conference, controlling his message and who asked questions.
Although Soros' speech focused mostly on Bush, he didn't shy away from his defense of Kerry. Dating back to January he endorsed Kerry's candidacy. Soros later told Time magazine he was delighted that a "war hero" had emerged from the Democratic primaries to challenge a "warmonger."
"Top Republicans claim, without a shred of evidence, that al Qaeda wants John Kerry to be elected president," Soros said. "There is no truth or evidence for this outrageous assertion. There must be something wrong with us if we believe it. I want to shout from the rooftops, 'Wake up America. We must realize we are being misled.'"
Soros' campaign launch got a boost from retired NATO commander Wesley Clark, who also earned Soros' support during the Democratic primaries. Soros backed former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean as well.
Clark returned the favor Tuesday when he introduced Soros as a visionary leader who has lived the American dream after emigrating from Hungary following Nazi rule and then communist control.
"George Soros has some very, very important points of view to share with you," Clark said. "I may not agree with all of them. I didn't write them, but I strongly support the importance of his point of view and getting this debate engaged in the right way." More to come.

He's begging for evidence against his stiff! LOL OK
We know from the Spanish bombings that Al Qaeda wants to affect elections against the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing in favor of critics of the war in Iraq. Bush is in the Coalition of the Willing and Kerry is a critic of the war in Iraq.
Pot calling the kettle black, Soros.
Bush has interfered with Soros operations overseas. That is the reason he is throwing money at the Kerry campaign.
Drug sales and money laundering.
Criminal activities (going through Canada, Nigeria, etc.) all end up having their money go through banks in the Middle East to get it cleaned.
The war is interfering with all MONEY LAUNDERING and ORGANIZED CRIME IS MAD AS HELL. Soros don't like dis atall!
Soros became a US citizen in 1961.
While it's true Soros calls himself "a citizen of the world", he's actually been a US citizen since 1961.
Soros is the one who funded the push for "campaign finance reform."
Soros is not an "ardent supporter of Kerry's presidential campaign". He has made it clear from the outset that he was putting his money behind whoever the Democrats ran out there to run against Bush. In fact, he is really the poster child of the "No Bush" brigade. Kerry is too arrogant to admit this to himself, but if he were to somehow pull this thing off (and I pray he will not), it will not be that he was elected, it will be that Bush was ousted.
Hungarian born. Naturalized US citizen for quite a while. Emigrated here in '56. Still an unmitigated a$$.
Every action by Soros is like every action of every other billionaire-his own bottom line and profit margin. Kerry is just a useful idiot that Soros is manipulating for the purpose of enhancing his profits.
"We must realize we are being misled."
But how could he have been misled if he has never favored the war and has all the answers about what America should do?
Norman coordinate!
Thank you.
SOROS TO VOTERS: WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU? [09/28 02:36 PM]
Continuing on the theme of this post, Kerry Spot reader Alan recalls a comment by George Soros at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs graduation, delivering the commencement address on May 14 this year:
I would dearly love to pin all the blame on President Bush and his team. But that would be too easy. It would ignore the fact that he was playing to a receptive audience and even today, after all that has happened, a majority of the electorate continues to have confidence in President Bush on national security matters. If this continues and President Bush gets reelected, we must ask ourselves the question: What is wrong with us? The question needs to be asked even if he is defeated because we cannot simply ignore what we have done since September 11.
At that point, Soros pulled back his mask to reveal himself as Latverian dictator Doctor Doom, who cackled, "Fools! You think you can defy my will at the ballot box! My henchmen the 527-men and I will destroy you all with my Destructo Ray! Bwahahahahahaha!"
George Soros is rapidly becoming the Lyndon Larouche of the next generation. After Kerry goes down, people will think of Soros and Larouche as if they are joined at the hip.
Excellent point
It's gonna be fun throwing Kerry's loss in this little commie's face. :o)
NO he is an naturalized American citizen. He has spent most of his adult life in New York.
With this abysmal display of poor judgement, if you have any money invested in anything Soros is running, cash it in. He shouldn't be trusted with a dime of anyone else's money...and is certainly not trustworthy enough to pull a Pres. Kerry's strings.
Pull out? I've recently heard of several service men
back from Iraq anxious to return there. Sounds like they
want to finish their job, not run from it. Several x how
many? God bless 'em all. Soros running the country? More
like a Soros-Theresa team seems to me. Never were prayers more needed.
he reminds me of nicholas carpatethia from "the left behind" book series.
I kinda have this visual of Soros getting deported after caught with forged ballots in Florida.
Not an unpleasant thought.
How ya been, Laz? Still raisin' hell?

SoreA$$ had better hide his butt someplace that is safe from Putin. If Putin finds out that $oreA$$ has been financing the mass murdering acts of terrorism in Russia, Putin will eliminate the SoreA$$ problem for the world.
