Dick Morris raises good points. HOwever, in "debates 2000", Al Gore kept going over the time limit, over and over again. No doubts Kerry will too, in order to allow himself an opportunity to explain his current vacillation, and then the next one.

The person running the sound board can take care of that. Simply turn off his microphone!

That explains the genius of Baker getting the "time limit" light exposed to the viewer.

The Bush Team negotiated colored lights to show when a persons time has expired so the audience could see Kerry rambling well beyond his aloted time.

The debates rules now state that if a candidate goes over the alloted time for answering the question a panel or something lights up behind the candidate to highlight it to the viewer.
Kerry will look like a jack-o-lantern all lit up.

I think one of the rules are that the time will be on the screen for the viewer to see so if Kerry keeps going over the time limit, people will see what a long winded overdetailed nincompoop Kerry is.

I heard where the timeclock will show on the bottom of the screen - constantly going over might hurt Kerry now that people can see it for themselves.

Except this year the rules are the candidate gets cut off by the moderator once his time expires. Kerry cannot go over his time.

No question that Kerry will break the rules and run long among other things. In that instance, all Bush has to do is ask the audience if they understood what his opponent just said.

True, but the MSM is on alert now. They know that the Pajama brigade of bloggers is going to be on the alert for favoritism by the Moderators.
Maybe it won't help maybe it will, but I believe that every organization involved in putting together questions will be reviewing them very carefully so that they don't get Rather-ized the day after the debate.

kerry will not be able to go over the time limit with the on camera flashing red light saying he is over the alloted time. LOL He can try it, but no one likes a "know-it-all" who won't shut up.

He will probably start: "Let me waffle a little..." and then go over time limit.
