Rush Limbaugh/Donovan McNabb
The Philadelphia Inquirer (Philly.com) ^ | Bob Ford

Posted on 09/28/2004 9:05:40 AM PDT by tmontrose

A year ago, the Eagles were 0-2 and McNabb's quarterback rating was 41.4, which is just about what you get for having a pulse and making your way successfully to midfield for the coin toss. McNabb was dealing with nagging injuries at the time, and was also being nagged by the distracting controversy belched out during the 10 minutes or so that Rush Limbaugh lasted as a nationally televised embarrassment.

Today is the one year anniversary of the Limbaugh/McNabb "controversy" and the media has already started trashing Rush. The source for this is Philaledphia Online (Philly.com). I have found three different articles within the last seven days where the sports media in Philadelphia is already trashing Rush. With today being the anniversary, look for more to come. Thanks, Tim Montrose http://www.timmontrose.com

Leave it to the liberal MSM to live in the past. Next story, how the election was stolen from Gore in 2000. Yawn.

Tell me about it. He was my fantasy football quarterback, whom I picked first in the draft.

Watch it turkey. Rush was right. McNabb was a very poor quarterback until Rush woke him up. Give credit where it is due. Better be thanking Rush.

Too bad they didn't ask him what he thought of Daunte Culpepper, who was putting up Pro Bowl numbers at the time.

I'm sure he would have had much praise for him, thus negating the "race" element the media injected into this.

Of course, if you'll recall, the TOPIC OF THE DAY was "WHAT'S WRONG WITH DONOVAN MCNABB?"

Still, Rush should know that conservatives, and he especially, aren't allowed to discuss race.

I thought at the time that McNabb had craploads of potential but at that time even Brad Johnson (among other mediocre QB's) had a better career QB rating. Rush's point was the motivation behind the unjustified MSM gushing over McNabb.

(My opinion, they should have been gushing over McNair, who before getting all banged up was the new John Elway.)

There was never any denying McNabb's toughness (one of the reasons I thought he had potential) after he broke his ankle and then got back up to throw 4 TD's in a game. This year, with a better receiving corps, it looks like he's starting to realize that potential. But none of that invalidates what Rush said a year ago.

When Mcflubb wins the big one I will pay attention.

Rush was right, he was/is the great black hope of the PC crowd. Note:3 games does not make a season.

Let's talk again in January. :)

.... Rush Limbaugh lasted as a nationally televised embarrassment.

That maybe true in the minds of liberals. But Rush is laughing all the way to the bank. I'd like to know how much Bob Ford makes a year. Rush makes about $35,000,000 annually. Rush is a huge success from coast to coast. Bob ford is a nobody.

Limbaugh gets canned for stating his opinion about a QB's ability on a sports show, while Rather keeps his job despite hawking forged documents.

What's wrong with this picture?

I'm a huge Eagles fan so I'm glad McNabb is doing well this year. The sports media in Philly (especially the Daily News and 610WIP) are total union Democrat-types anyway, so criticizing Rush comes naturally to them. I always thought his comments were off the mark myself. Dononvan was over-rated and over-promoted at one point in his career because of his high draft status, flashy play, and clean cut image, not because of his race. Now he's backing it up so Rush will have to eat crow. Of course the entire controversy was blown out of proportion by the pc-mongers at ESPN and the idiots in the mainstream press.

Donavan McNabb is no John Elway. John Elway is pure class.

This Bob Ford is not the only one. There is another uy that works for the Philadelphia Inquire -- Bob Brookover. Check out his column too -- it's more of the same liberal propaganda against Rush!
