The most recent Gallop poll shows that most of the public regards the memo circumstance as an unfortunate mistake rather than premeditated partisanship. Moreover, a strong majority in the poll said that Rather should quit over the matter. Unless perceptions change, it will be difficult to generate the kind of buzz that would force CBS' hand.
