Yes, it does wonderful work.
Sick children are children first, and they are growing up while they are afflicted.
The growing up part should be kept first in mind, and the illness second.

I apologize for necro-posting. But there is an update to this story 11 years in the making that I wanted to share with everyone.

Philip Shriver, the 7 year old boy stricken with Leukemia in 2004...is now a very healthy and cancer free young man of 17 and still wanting to join the Army.

My own son was his age with I helped cover this story back in 2004 and it tore at my heart to the point that I’ve checked in with the family from time to time to see how Philip was doing. Always afraid it would be bad news and always relieved when it wasn’t.

I’ve made contact with him again on FB and it really warms my heart to know that he’s doing fine and cancer free.

Thought y’all would like to know too.
