One sentence in the article bothers me, though.
Shriver's day on Fort Riley was filled with Soldiering.
Soldiering: the life, service, or practice of one who soldiers.
Soldier: (alternate definition) to make a pretense of working while really loafing.
Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary.
The author most likely did not intend for this meaning; poor choice of words, perhaps.
Maybe the Army wants to reclaim the word from its Beetle Bailey connotation, now that they are all volunteers and professionals, and not spending too much time on KP.
