Are you out of it?

There is no death penalty for being an illegal alien. And the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants only want a better life.

I'm not a no-borders guy, and I am also very strongly in favor of securing the border.

I am just saying that most clear thinking Americans don't favor militarization of the border - and engaging the runners with military force, and the fatalities and casualties that would create.

You are in a small, weak, and wonderfully ineffective minority. Congratulations, now find a free PC and play 'Global Thermonuclear War.'

Did you ever consider the opposite notion, that when Univision showed pictures of well disciplined troops on the border that not as many folks might try to make the run? It's called "deterrence."

I think most wouldn't care -- a whole lot of the border is way out in the desert where no Americans are --- the parts of the border in town are already fenced -- no one minds the fences at all --- in fact if you told the people living along the immediate border that the fences were coming down --- you'd hear the biggest outcry and protests --- and those would be all hispanics. Silvestre Reyes actually became very popular among hispanics with Operation Blockade and Operation Hold-the-Line --- which drastically lowered much of the crime rate in the border towns.
