Liberal activists like to have everybody neatly categorized, and for them, gay equals activist equals liberal. Their big problem is that many gays aren't liberal or activist about it. Some are deeply private people who feel that their private practices are none of anyone else's business. This doesn't fit with their idea of the world so they call it hypocrisy even if this guy hasn't sponsored legislation which would persecute homosexuals. If he simply failed to support the radical left homosexual agenda, then they will call him a hypocrite.
This is not anything new. I don't care if he's gay, I don't care if he's straight. In a libertarian world I wouldn't have to KNOW either way. It is a private thing and none of my business.
But for liberal groups, conservative blacks, latinos, gays, jews, and immigrants do not compute. They feel ENTITLED to these demographic groups.

You're right. To a liberal, a Republican is ignorant and thoughtless. But a gay Republican is a heretic. No wrath is greater than that directed at a heretic.

In a polite world, you wouldn't have to know either way, and you certainly wouldn't be called upon to comment.
