I'm the kind of Christian that doesn't feel compelled to go around telling everybody what a good Christian I am.

I think I made it pretty clear that I pretending to speak from or for God, unlike you.
I take it you don't want to answer that question, right?

How so? The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force is spreading this information to try to weaken Dreier's support. They've also done this without offering a shred of evidence.
You are eagerly 1. believing them, and 2. trying to convince others to stop supporting Dreier.
I'd say the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force would be quite pleased at your actions on this thread.

My point is that the Bible does not say that gifts like speaking in tongues is not for today's Christians...therefore, your attempt to use them as some kind of example of right wing extremists has not basis in Biblical fact...
I also submit to you that the George W. Bush you claim to hold in such high esteem is more like the person you have tried to paint me as tonight than he is like you..what do you think of them there banannas?!
To: Lurking2Long
I think you'd love to think that, but you have no way of knowing that.

Howlin,
First the quote in your post addressed to me, was written by Reagan Man, not me but I agree completely.
Now to answer you in reference as to who put George Bush in power.
I believe that despite your sarcasm, you understood my post and my point. Bush was elected by many different groups including Conservative Christians of many denominations and affiliations. I never stated that we alone elected Bush but we certainly were a big portion of the vote and without our vote he would not have been elected.
As for the Conservatives that sat home both Christians and non Christians, I personally believe that a protest non vote is a disservice to the nation as was illustrated years ago by the protest votes cast by many Republicans and Conservatives in general for Perot against Bush 1. This only served to bring disaster to the Presidency with the election of Clinton.
To: Tamsey
Scratch my comment that the "genetic fallacy" is applicable to your post #404. I misread part of it.
You do commit the fallacies of "guilt by association" and the "straw man" argument.
Also, there seems to be an implied third fallacy known as "poisoning the well".

You commit the "pretending to be an intellectual" fallacy. Have you got anything to offer other than a stream of posts with nothing but cut and paste from a debate site?

"Who's running you out of the party? Do you think if everyone in it doesn't belong to your particular Christian sect that you are not welcome in the GOP?"
I felt compelled to put my two cents worth due to the following post:
Post87:
"No, I am not wrong; the GOP has NEVER EVER been about telling people what they can and cannot do in their bedrooms until the Holy Rollers took over back in the '80s.
'
'They can't be gone soon enough."
-This is not the first time that I have read similar and sometimes more virulent posts berating Christians and wishing them gone from the GOP. The writers usually refer to Christians as either "Right Wing Extremists" or "Holly Rollers". if I over reacted I am sorry but enough is enough!
-I don't belong to any sect, I am just a Christian, I only used the term "Holly Roller" because that is what the poster used. I was an independent voting Republican and joined the Republican party in the 80's so I took the comment personally. My husband has been a Republican since the 60's.
I believe in the Bible, I try not to be offensive or self righteous but I am not making any apologies for my believes. I like to prayerfully share the Word with anyone, in love and kindness, when the opportunity arises.
As for your last paragraph, "What other party is there for us to vote with that has a shred of hope of effecting improvement in the culture via the political route?"
This is why I joined and remain in the Republican party.
