Fifteen years ago a good friend told me he had figured liberals out. He used to think they were well-meaning, but misguided. Experience had convinced him, however, that there was nothing well-meaning about them. It took me awhile, but I've come to understand why he said that.
There are two kinds of liberals: those who deludedly believe what they way (and are well-meaning but misguided) and those who recognize that what they say is false but hope to trick others. It's important to recognize this distinction.
