My signup date was October 17, 1998. My sister (Patriot1) and I participated in the March for Justice (1998) in DC, which called for Clinton's impeachment. We also participated in the Judgment Day rally in DC (1998) and the dinner honoring the House of Representatives managers of the Clinton impeachment in DC (1999).
In March, 2003 Patriot1 and I also organized a "Rally for America" attended by over 1,000 people. We credited Free Republic as a sponsor of this rally, for which we received much publicity in the local media. We also organized four other informal Rallies for America in March and April 2003.
Yes, some of us old-timers are still around.

In MY day, we didn't have these automatic-shmiggledeeschmatic html tag closers. If you wrote in double-sized red italics, EVERYBODY wrote in double-sized red italics, and they'd yell at you and push you in the snow and steal your shoes.
And weeeeeeee LIKED it.
And, VANITIES!? Baaaahhhhhh!
In MY DAY, we didn't Haaaave Vanities!
If you couldn't source the story, you didn't post it! We didn't have nice AdminMods that tried to TEACH the Newbeeees!!! If they didn't like what you posted, they sent you to Chat, where your head would explode and your eyeballs would fry!
Aaaaand weeeee LIKED IT!!!
And nobody knew who we were! Record numbers of Newbeeee--schmigglty-schmewbies posting threads? Baaah!
In my day, you couldn't start a thread until you'd responded to several threads!!! If you tried to start a thread yourself, you'd hear ZOT, and lightning would come out of your computer screen and melt your face and clicking finger off!!!
And, weeeeee LIKED IT!!!

Well, Bob I met you, CAL, AlyGirl, BadJoe, and many old time others at a party to begin the Southern California FR group. By that time I had already had a few names .. the first was "MudFlap". I was around before there were formal registrations. So, yes, many old timers are here.

N. Beaujon, Freeper since Aug 7, 1998. I left for many years and came back a week before the Dan Blather story broke. Happy to be part of history, twice.
Kudos to the founders who have created something extraordinary.

DITHF was the first big blowout we had on FR. It spawned the first anti-freepers...some of them are still active to this day. I remember. IIRC, he/they claimed more decorations(CIB's?) than it was possible to receive.

Don would be welcomed back by me in a second. He left when he thought Jim wasn't straight with him, but the fact is an attorney told Jim to keep some facts regarding the Talkspot deal private...he was just following legal advice.
Don, Jim was deep in debt and although he was geting income from the Talkspot deal, it was going to keep him out of bankruptcy and FR on the web. Time to put the past in the past. Come on home...

I was here before the software change in '97. If I remember correctly, I am #157 as someone told me. I never went and found out for myself. How do I do that again?

Oh, and let me remember a couple of old-timers who left us - RJayneJ and Chief Negotiator. RIP from a grateful friend. Peace...pipe...
To: Bob J
Still around, but mostly just lurking now due to time constraints. Good to see so many familiar names. Just missed your cut--I believe I was 1999.
