I know it's not a popular FreeRepublic position, but Rudy would carry a lot more votes than Tancredo... maybe a Guiliani/Tancredo Ticket would be good, though.
Like SHE is as pure as the driven snow??? I agree no excuse for the things he did, but she wasn't exactly a partner in his life and career. Too busy with her own Television career. The victims were their kids.
No, I didn't know that at all.
By "far right," I mean one-issue voters who, no matter how the candidate stands on other issues, if he doesn't support their one issue, they won't vote for him.
As for the founders, that's your opinion; nobody knows how the founders would vote in a nation threatened by terrorists.
And, I've seen plenty of people on FR say they would vote for Guiliani for president over Hillary Clinton, if that's the choice.
You wouldn't vote for Rudy over Hillary? You'd risk putting that witch into office?
You've convinced me. I'm going to run in 08. My platform will consist of mopping up what's left of the regimes that support terror, closing our borders, ending legal abortion, getting a national sales tax to replace the IRS, and privatizing social security. I will end welfare altogether, withdraw from the UN, stop sending "aid" money to foreign governments, and I will start a Reagan-sized military buildup. And I will double the pay scale for soldiers. I'm asking for your vote.
ss, it would be a freak occurrence if Guliani were to be nominated by Republican primary and caucus voters. I'm not at all sure you know how liberal he is.
If one candidate were a Republican and the other a Democrat and they both favored killing off Jews, would you vote for the Republican?
I would hope it didn't come down to that, either. I can't think of a Repub big gun other than Rudy that would beat Hillary. I hate her, you hate her, we all hate her; but the press would work even harder for her than they are for sKerry. BJ would be all recuped and he would be sent out for the "charisma" she lacks. The dems will be going for broke come 2008.
I'd like to think we are better than the Dems; that we don't just vote for someone because we think he is the only guy who can beat the challenger.
I'd like to think we vote on conscience (not unconscious), and for the person that most closely follows the ideals set forth for this nation by our Founding Fathers.
I know he's liberal. But, he'd draw lots of cash, and, depending on his opponents in the primary, he could very well emerge the candidate.
If one candidate were a Republican and the other a Democrat and they both favored killing off Jews, would you vote for the Republican?
How about killing some Jews? You know that Bush is in favor of exceptions to abortion in cases of rape and incest.
Give me a name of someone, right now, who could beat him.
Meet me here Novmber 2006, and we'll talk.
If and when it gets that far, pro-lifers will take that, then keep pressing on. One doesn't want to let millions of people be killed, because of not being able to save thousands.
When did character count with Bubba??? Nobody gave a crap about his character. He served 8 ugly years.
I think Kerry has taken more positions than Kerry!!!
I like the Bush Bunch!
I don't think anyone is trying to disrespect or diminish Rudy's heroism or his contribution from his current role, but assuming that he is grooming for a 2008 presidential bid, remember the Peter Principle -- Too often we reward great performance with an inappropriate (and emotionally charged) promotion to the next level, without truly considering the demands of the new role and measuring against the objective criteria we would normally insist upon.
IMO, if we are to make progress toward taking back America to conservative values, then we must follow up in 2008 with someone MORE conservative than Bush, not LESS. Let's not let the emotion of 911 cloud our good judgement on that.
Realizing that four years is a lifetime, can you suggest someone, at this point, who could beat Rudy?
