In 1990, Terri suffered some kind of trauma. Reports that it was a blood-chemical imbalance or eating disorder are inaccurate. No one knows what happened that night in her apartment with her husband, but oxygen to her brain was cut off for a short period causing brain damage. She was 26.

[This is the first I have heard about the cause of the injury. For some reason I thought she was injured in a car crash. This makes the whole situation far more interesting.]

Michael did not call 9-11 when he found Terri either face up or face down - he's changed his mind on how he found her. His first call was to Terri's dad wherein he told her father "Terri is dead." Must have been a shock to him when she wasn't. Terri's brother lived at the same complex as Terri and Michael. I think her brother was the one who actually got 9-11 over to the apartment.
