I read about that fire. Did they catch the arsonist yet?
If you believe this guy I've got a good price for you on a rather large bridge over the bay.
If they otherwise obey the law then they should have been on a bus. I have been through DUI checkpoints, no problems there.
It should also be noted, PER THE USSC DUI CHECKPOINTS MUST BE ADVERTISED AND HAVE WRITTEN RULES OF CONTACT! This objection is pure BS.
The invasion continues, endorsed by both political parties and government leaders everyhwere.

So they're in violation of both the Vehicle Code AND IMMIGRATION LAW.
But apart from that, they're law-abiding.
Maybe I shouldn't have been lazy and posted the long version of this story instead. Click here:http://www.trivalleyherald.com/Stories/0,1413,86~10669~2428328,00.html
No, I don't believe they have. We've had a number of suspicious fires in Columbus dating back to a couple years ago when 5 OSU students were killed in one close to campus. Terrible tragedy, but I despise the political vultures that come out of the skies to pick at the wounds to further their agenda.
That would be like saying "Boy that Phil may have knocked off a conveniece store, but he's never had a traffic ticket."
Phil is really an okay guy. Let him move into MY neighborhood. Everything will be just fine.
Let me guess what those guidelines will be: 1. No Hispanics, legal or illegal, are to be stopped and questioned because that would be racial profiling.
2. Should an illegal Hispanic be involved in an auto accident without having a drivers license, and be found to be drunk, the victim will assume all responsibility for the accident or be charged with racial bias.
We had a similiar case in Long Island, New York. Turns out one of the 'rescuers' started the fire. (an illegal alien)
..."These checkpoints make people's lives miserable, not make them safer," said Jesus Rodriguez of Oakland Community Organizations, which filed most of the complaints about the checkpoints. "I've watched while the police have towed away cars (full) of groceries, leaving children crying on the sidewalk."
...The complaints and pressure from De La Fuente, who represents the largely Latino Glenview-Fruitvale district and plans to run for mayor in 2006...
...However, the month-long moratorium on checkpoints has outraged Councilmember Larry Reid (Elmhurst-East Oakland), who calls the change a threat to public safety.
"It is absolutely insane to stop these checkpoints," Reid said. "I would not want to explain to a mother why we stopped doing these checkpoints when we know they work and her son or daughter was killed."
Reid also criticized elected officials for "micromanaging" the police department, although he did not single out De La Fuente for blame. Reid and De La Fuente are usually on the same side of issues before the council and recently worked together to propose a measure to raise taxes to hire more police officers.
The new checkpoint guidelines, which are not final, may call for police to notify Latino community organizations of the time and location of coming checkpoints. The checkpoints will be held after the evening rush-hour commute and rotated throughout the city, officials said...
...Reid said he has little sympathy with Rodriguez's position.
"I don't care if they are illegal immigrants," Reid said.
"They should not be driving on our streets without a license, without insurance. I expect the Oakland Police Department to do its job and get them off the street."
The council is expected to take up the issue at its Oct. 19 meeting.
I'll bet the push came from higher up. Governor, State Rep. or President
Crack down hard on minor offenses like turnstile jumping, loitering, etc. and pretty soon a lot of bad guys are off the streets.
I live in Hayward about 25 minutes away from Oakland rest assured I would be pulled over at a checkpoint and asked for my lic. and no one would complain for me
WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL DONT THESE PEOPLE UNDERSTAND UNDER THE LAW IN CA. AND IT IS NOT A RIGHT TO HAVE A LIC. ANYWAYS AND I AM SICK TO DEATH OF ALL THESE GROUPS WHINNING ABOUT ILLEGALS RIGHTS THEY ARE ILLEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are layers on layers of WTF here:
1. Police stops without probable cause are way out of line.
2. Mexican illegals get action on this when law-abiding gringos can't.
3. Illegals can, and should, be found through other means.
We sneer in derision when we read about muslims taking over Europe city by city. Europe deserves it, we say (and I agree) because they don't do anything about it. They are too weak, too PC, too "European."
Well, it's happening here, folks, and apparently there isn't anyone willing to do anything about it.
Wait a minute . . . are you suggesting that there is something against the law in being here illegally?
