Pandering to dumb voters
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review ^ | Sunday, September 26, 2004 | Tom Purcell

Rocker Ted Nugent is onto something.

According to Washington Whispers, Nugent is tired of MTV and musicians such as P. Diddy pushing young people to vote without pushing them to learn what is really going on.

"That's not good enough," says Nugent. "It's like saying, 'Well, there's a child drowning in the river. Just do something. Here, I'll throw him a cinder block.'"

Heh, heh, you got to like Nugent for his visual language, but as I said he's on to something. According to a new report, many voters don't have much idea what is going on.

An informed electorate is a prerequisite for democracy, writes Ilya Somin, assistant professor of law at George Mason School of Law. His study is titled "When Ignorance Isn't Bliss: How Political Ignorance Threatens Democracy."

Always fun to see Willie Green linking to those corporation-beholden bad guys at the Cato Institute.

Heh, I love Ted. Think that started back in about '75 or so. LOL

His message: Be passionate and educated about politics. "Voting is the most important decision a free man can indulge in, can make!" - Ted Nugent nuf said

It should be no surprise that the globo-marketing weenies at Cato keep track of new ways to pawn their propaganda to a dumbed-down and gullible electorate.

Democrats who are out pushing voter registration dont want these people to know anything about why they vote they just want them to vote Dem. The more they know the more likely they will vote Republican.

Have you listened to Sean Hannity and his "Man on the Street" interviews" He's got this dunce "Flipper" out there lining up young people to answer questions like "Who is president/vice-president/SecState, etc. More than half don't know the answers to the questions, but they are voting for Kerry. Why? "Because he's not Bush."

Several of these ignorantes have expressed support for the democrat VP candidate Stu Ped, a name invented by Sean.

As a republic that depends on an educated electorate, we are in deep kimche.

Just like the DEMOC claim that if reelected he will bring back the DRAFT (Ketchup Boy has even said this several times in campaign stops) to frighten 18 - 25 year olds but they never mention the S.89 and HR.163 to bring back the DRAFT are DEMOC bills with only DEMOC signors sponsoring the bills. Daughter related to me that several of her classmates at the local college repeated this lie and they were Shocked, shocked I tell you when she informed them of the truth.

Good article, it shows that there are people out there that truly should not even vote. Heck, I don't believe in universal sufferage at all, one should take a test and not be on the dole (with certain exceptions, for brevity, I won't go into this now) before one can vote. Voting is very important, you are literally taking part in determining the direction the nation is going and I do think you need to be able to make a truly informed decision and have a stake in things, it should not be "hey you're 18, go vote." Like a car or ham radio, you should know enough to run them at a basic level, voting should be the same way. Basically the MTV "rock the vote" crowd just want more mind numbed robots to vote Democratic without questioning why.

BTW, love Sean Hannity's bits on his "man in the street" where there are enough dummies out there that would vote for "Jim Kearny" and his running mate "Stu Ped." I had to almost pull over in the fear that I would wreck from laughing. B-)
