Journalists tend to be liberal Democrats from middle class families with some education, few spend time with blue collar workers, people in the military or people of religious faith.
Bloggers are true to the old journalism adage, 'If your mother says she loves you, check it out.'
On the internet, nobody knows youre anything.
So you have to prove that you are worth reading a believing by providing links to source material or to your credentials and by making sense.
CBS remained clueless. A former CBS vice president Jon Klein sneered at the critics, 'You couldn't have a starker contrast between the multiple layers of checks and balances and a guy sitting in his living room in his pajamas writing.'
As it turned out, the guys in the pajamas beat the pants off CBS News.

I got in, just can't find where the article is. I've looked in Editorials/Commentary but there is no author by this name listed. Am I missing something obvious? (Wouldn't be the first time!)
If my link doesn't work, use the one in the article and search on "pajamas".
Thank you, MNM! It worked...good read.

Sic'em, FR has a few "old media" members.
Klein doesn't get it. He's worried about OUR "checks and balances?" What he's witnessing is a paradigm -- a new source of checks and balances has risen to keep the MSM in line, and it is us. WE ARE the checks and balances that they have never had before.
And it would not have happened without Free Republic. Sure, some great bloggers made some outstanding contributions, but how many of us would have been aware of those blogs? It took took the brilliant observation of Buckhead to inspire those bloggers, and then FR served as the great consolidator of information and discussion. Freepers that knew of these bloggers were able to post the content, and then the observations and discussion by tens of thousands (maybe hundreds of thousands) went to work, analyzing and dissecting every bit of information. Without FR the exploration and discussion would have been fractured and disorganized.
