That this young man so readily betrayed the confidence of your communications just shows how weak his faith truly is. And considering the virulence that others in his circle attacked your faith demonstrates the hatred that is Islam.
God gave this young man the free will to turn against His will. I'd say that Ryan has made it plain that he will accept no truth from anyone who speaks God's word. No matter how accurate your words or true your faith, breaking through any wall of hatred is arduous at best and rarely yields anything but frustration and discouragment. Even Jesus himself recognized this with the Pharisees.
My hope and prayer is that the Good Lord will lead Ryan back to the light in the same way He guided me.
Actually, you have misread his reaction.
When he saw my (written) distress over the situation,
Ryan publically apologized. He had sent my messages to the other teen for his debating feedback and posted his answers back to me (at least the first time) because he learned a lot from debate.
The other boy then offerred to have the thread pulled but I declined.
Please don't rush to judgemet.
The Lord will speak directly to newberger's heart and let him know when to walk away.
I don't believe he is lost yet. Based on the chain of events and the insecurity and immaturity of the young man, I think he joined for social reasons and not out of any strong message of faith.
I will continue to pray - the guy converted two weeks ago.
