A Frenchman?...moving on...nothing here

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - A French national was shot and killed in the Saudi Arabian city of Jiddah early Sunday, the Interior Ministry said. The man was shot at 1 a.m. in the Red Sea port city. The ministry did not name the victim or provide details. The attack was the latest in a recent chain of violence directed toward foreigners by militants bent on driving them out of the country. The Saudi economy, particularly the oil sector, depends on foreign workers. In the most recent incident, gunmen last week killed a British man working for the telecommunications corporation Marconi a week ago in eastern Riyadh, the Saudi capital. Saudi Arabia has been hunting al-Qaida-linked militants behind a series of bombings and shootings in the Gulf kingdom that have targeted the U.S.-allied Saudi regime, security authorities and foreign interests. |
