This is a light-hearted trial balloon from the Hard Left. But it's a topic that has intruiged me for years. In this
ancient and outdated Publius Essay from 1999 I explored the secession of Texas and Utah under the Hillary Clinton presidency.
I'm working on a new Publius Essay about the coming splintering of the Democratic Party, and I hope to have that ready after the election. As the forces of the Left lose their ability to influence national policy, one of my suspicions is that we'll see more talk like this.

Actually it would be a good idea to remove Washington and Oregon (really, Northern California all the way to the Canadian border) from the American defense perimeter.
That way when the North Koreans hit them with nuclear warheads we need not be bothered!

A recent CNN poll on swing states showed that Washington was the only state that supports John Kerry even more than it supported Al Gore.

This is the second OpEd I've seen today that involved claims that more educated citizens vote Kerry, while the uneducated mo-rons in flyover country are voting for Bush.
I think we all knew that the left felt this way, but it's surprising they're beginning to openly admit their arrogance.

Ah, you remember "Ectopia". That's a golden oldie from the Eighties!

Notice that he said "most educated." He didn't say "smartest." There's a huge difference.

Yeah, I know, Paleo. I guess Kerry has that warm and wonderful personality that Gore lacked.
I live here, and it amazes me sometimes.

Brad Upton just celebrated his 20th year as a stand-up comedian I think I know why no one's ever heard of him.

In the immortal words of the Bard,

Remember, Shakespear was from Southern England.

People actively talking about this sort of thing really seems to indicate we've got a second Civil War on the horizon.

A person who walks around boasting about how bright they are is the same as a person who walks around boasting about how brave they are. I'm glad they think they are smart, because I think they are quite stupid.

Regarding the article saying that God was punishing Florida for what happened in 2000; Maybe he was just punishing the tens of thousands of Democrats who were illegally registered in New York AND Florida. If we factor out the illegal sleaze vote it wasn't really close at all. Seriously though, the bible is clear that the rain falls on the just and the unjust.

Us dumb folk in Clark Co. voted Bush in 2000.
