The political climate will depend heavily on State and Federal aid getting in there quickly, and effectively..

This could be a little more serious then that. There has been a lot of talk about a housing bubble over the last couple of years, and one has to wonder whether these storms may prove to be the pin that burst the bubble.

In the aftermath, as people clean up and pick up, the insurance rates will climb, and that much more stress will be loaded onto the system. A collapse in Florda's bloated real estate market, can underscore the achilles heal of the financial system, and lead to a further and broader weakening. So we can hope that care will be taken to protect lives and property, not only from the storm; but, also from the fallout of these storms.

See my post # 92... & link attached..

Floridians need to take this seriously...
Proper structure for the weather conditions will cut insurance costs dramatically..

Insurance companies will often co-operate in rebuilding if they know the structure will probably never suffer from hurricane damages again..
Check out your insurance agent.. I am positive they have statistics and actually promote this type of structure in many areas..
Insurance companies want to collect premiums, not make payouts..

I've thought about this, but I think it would only affect properties very close to the beach. They are at ridiculous prices anyhow.

If one can get insurance it may be about time to pickup a good deal or two in the coming weeks/years.

The only thing I worry about in the aftermath of Jeanne is that the out-of-state power crews are already working the entire length of the state. If Jeanne causes much damage I don't see how they can handle it without bringing in more crews.
