As far as I can tell, FEMA, Red Cross, etc. has been doing well, with what they are designed to do..

National Guard units, etc. have even been activated and sent into the affected areas to provide electrical generators, food, medical attention, temporary shelters..

So far, emergency measures have worked well, when people have listened to warnings, and evacuated or sheltered as directed..

I don't know about how FEMA in FL is working, but my encounters with them and the out of town utilities workers (hey Missouri power guys!), have been just great in Gulf Shores AL. Those FEMA workers bear the brunt of alot of frustrations and the ones I've seen bear it very compassionately. I also must give props to the National Guardsmen and the Gulf Shores PD. Much devestation down there.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those in Jeanne's path.

I have three close friends in Ft. Pierce...2 are RABID Republicans and 1 thinks all politicians are jerks. I talked to him last week and asked for his assessment of Jeb and GWB. QUOTE:

"Any time you have 3 major hurricanes in such a short time span, things are going to be a mess. Jeb is doing better than could be expected in the circumstances. I'll tell you one thing...if I have to live through this, I want to be in a state where the Governor is the President's brother. They both looked like Compassionate Conservatives to us, but they also whipped relief efforts into shape, the mark of good businessmen. Both have good organizational skills."

This is high praise from a crusty curmudgeon.
