Thanks for starting this thread...we just heard this is coming in to us inland as a Cat 3...possibly into Vero as a Cat 4. We're ready- but numb.

Unreal, isn't it? By the time to unwind emotionally from a hurricane, another one comes along. I am staying put again, but I have a feeling this one might be worse than Charley (eye went over us), which was violent but over quickly, and Frances which was like a non stop blast of a wall of wind. I know what the NOAA folks say the winds were here, but I don't agree with them and I think the winds never dropped under @ 65 mph for 18 hrs straight.

My sister is in Vero with her daughter and two kids under 2. I am worried sick and monitoring carefully. Any updates are really appreciated. My elderly mother is sick with worry. We are up in NY and the angst is getting to her.
