Very overcast here in Central Florida north of Orlando. Its been that way all day. Now its drizzling ever so slightly and the breeze is picking up.
I need to do all the laundry before the electricity goes out! We were without electricity for a week with Frances. Thats a long time to go without doing laundry when you have little kids.
This is really a bad situation. First, Charley, Frances, Ivan, and now this. I feel bad for those people in Haiti and Florida.
To my fellow Freepers:
We're looking to maybe relocate from here in Hurricane Alley. We've been through enough hurricanes now, and we're tired of sitting on pins and needles for 6 months every year. I love my hometown, but I can't stand it anymore.
I work from home, but my husband is jeweler who does custom work (designs, carves, waxes, polishes, etc) Any hot job prospects for him out there, I would appreciate it. (No northeast or Left Coast cities, please)
Thanks.
PS: Anyone know anything about Jackson, Tennessee? Sounds like a nice community.
NW suburbs of Chicago here. All quiet.
I've been out all day, and don't know if anybody's posted this link, but it's a cool one.
Lots of different satellite images of Jeanne all on one page.

bump!
Niece who just started med school on Grand Cayman in August got out alive with nothing but one suitcase. Finally heard from her roomie - the storm surge covered the island and put 4-6 ft of water in the downstairs of their condo and tore the roof off. What wasn't covered with sea water was soaked with rain.
They moved the school to Maine! Start again next week.
My apologies if this has already been posted--
here is a live TV link (Vero Beach)

(Let me know if this doesn't work)
Cable modem in and out...somehow the electricity is still on.
I'm getting lucky here in Jupiter. The folks up the road in Vero and Melbourne are going to get HAMMERED.
They're talking sustained winds of 125.
I believe I've seen gusts approaching 125, but sustained? No way.
