Read my post. I asked for guidance. I'm concerned for the safety of my children. We're talking about a CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER WHO APPARENTLY WENT AFTER A CHILD. And if I'm a NIMBY because I don't want a pedophile in my neighborhood, then so be it.

Again, your best defense is to inform your daughter. Most kids get into trouble or get taken advantage of because they weren't prepared AND didn't feel safe talking to their parents about the problem. If your goal is to create an environment free from every care or stress, you are living a dangerous illusion, and your daughter will pay the price someday for being unprepared to meet life.

As to your attitude...you have to live with it. Some people really do recover from pedophilia.

Yes, you're a NIMBY. "affluent suburb...$300,000...nice area".

The mayor lives right across the street, you said - don't you think that would have prevented the installation?

I'm concerned for the safety of my children.

That's the same thing the nuts who are trying to shut down Island Lake are saying.

GET real...sexual preditors are everywhere! Look...educate your children...it will be knowledge they will need for life. AS for the S.O. in the home...ask the police for advice...does he have rules of where he CAN and CAN'T be? With that knowledge...get a camera...and when the S.O. is where he ISN'T supposed to be...take a picture and present to the police.

YOUR neighborhood will only be as safe as YOU allow it to be...whining here on the board won't help...get up and do it yourself...

BTW, in my neighborhood...3 sexual offenders...I print out their name and picture...and everytime a new person moves in, I welcome them to the neighborhood...show them the pics, describe the S.O.'s vehicles and habits...one S.O. works a night shift for example...a knowlwdgable neighborhood is a safe neighborhood.

ALSO lets "new" neighbors know...we take community safety seriously, we demand adherence to deed restrictions and we don't tolerate nonsense and IF the new people moving in aren't "rules followers" they KNOW someone like me will share all their "bad habits" with all the rest.

As for the people who have the chance to live in a decent home with care takers...well maybe you ought to go to a "institution" volunteer some of your time and then go to the private home...maybe if you were to engage the people, give some of your time...you WON'T "prejudge" the people, or situation.

Maybe for ONCE it shouldn't be "all about you"?!?
