I believe that women in combat roles are a bad idea. Personal experience proves it to me beyond a shadow of a doubt, as I saw just the atmosphere you describe during my Navy career. Nevertheless, I salute her decision to take charge of her life faced with the loss of her husband, instead of joining with the widows and parents who view the loss of a loved one as an excuse to disparage our President, troops, and the war they are fighting. I don't think we can sit here, without knowing her, and make up our minds as to her motivations. I give her my support hoping that she makes the right decisions and is doing this for the right reasons. If she is she will suceed, if not she will be shown for what she is. While we may want to change the way women are deployed in the military, we should support the people inside the system even when we disagree with the system.

One thing I've noticed since the photos came out is that these ranks appear to be dumping grounds for females who want to advance their careers without having to pay hard dues. Another thing I've observed is the feminine hue that has taken over the military: indecisiveness, poor showing of strength, tough talk with no action, and convoluted-PC-psyched out psyche op strategies where we design big firework shows where no one is actually killed.
We're in a WAR, a very serious one where I believe we are about to be challenged on a number of fronts, and our way of life is threatened to a degree many still fail to grasp. It is a time where we need to change our mindsets and prepare ourselves to take it to those who are planning our demise or our diminished influence. I don't know how to be PC. I know there is a time and place for all things, but this is not the time nor the place for silliness.
