Chris Matthews Bristles at Bias Charge

MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews didn't like it one bit Thursday night when Rep. Dan Burton, who was on hand to discuss Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi's speech to Congress, accused him of airing a biased report that painted Allawi as a Bush administration puppet.

After "Hardball" correspondent Norah O'Donnell explained in her news package, "It was as if Allawi's comments had been written by President Bush's speech writers," Burton blew the whistle.

"I was a little disappointed that Norah O'Donnell indicated that President Allawi's speech was written by the White House," he told Matthews. "That is a bias that the media ... "

Before Burton could finish, the irked host shot back, "She didn't say that."

When Burton stuck to his guns, Matthews insisted, "No she didn't [say that]. She said it could have been written."

At the end of the segment, the touchy talker felt the need to revisit the issue, insisting that O'Donnell merely meant Allawi's speech "was very supportive of the president."

"There was not a tad of bias in her report," he declared.

Good for Burton. The great thing about this filegate is the media is stepping on egg shells now and is scared to death of conservatives boycotting them.

I think this is a great tactic that Burton has implemented. I would recommend that any conservative that goes on MSNBC shows, CNN say the same thing.

Chrissy wouldn't know liberal bias if it came up and bit him on his ample A##.

"There was not a tad of bias in her report," he declared.

It is usually difficult to see your own bias. This is especially true for Crissy Matthews ... in his opinion it's not bias, it's unvarnished "truth."

You said it right. Matthews is a joke and deserves to be called on the carpet on almost every one of his shows. It's about time some of them are walking on eggshells.

Norah O'Donnell explained in her news package, "It was as if Allawi's comments had been written by President Bush's speech writers," Burton blew the whistle.

Those are the dem talking points. David Gregory also used them this morning. Joe Lockhart did the same thing -- calling Alawi Bush's puppet.

The media bias is not even being subtle any longer. It's as if they are going to see how much can be be gotten away with. The damage will be done to Bush is what they are counting on before a rebuttal will be made.

"There was not a tad of bias in her report," he declared.

And Dan Rather insists the same.

Her comment was editorial. It was condemnatory. It was biased.

Chrissy's days on the air are dwindling, I think.

The democrat word for today is 'puppet'.

They have all but stopped using 'sugarcoat'.

Chrissy is a POS. Norah O'Donnell is a student of Andrea Mitchell and has learned her lessons well.

She's also in competition with David Gregory for the NBC POS of the Month.

Then he will make a perfect spokesman for Kerry - the job for which I believe he has been auditioning every night on MSNBC.

When Burton stuck to his guns, Matthews insisted, "No she didn't [say that]. She said it could have been written."

Matthews is such a moron! Does he really believe that Rep. Burton thought Norah O'Donnell said that PM Allawi's speech was really written by the president's speech writers?

his rating were never too much to speak of in the first place; if he was anyplace else but MSNBC, he would have gotten canned long ago.
