Lake election and law enforcement officials said their investigation is centered on absentee registration attempts by the nonpartisan NAACP's National Voter Fund and an anti-Bush, nonprofit group called Americans Coming Together, or ACT Ohio.

Am I the only one shocked, surprised and dismayed by this?

"adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

Voter Fraud does that without firing a shot or stabbing our troops in the back!

Then in 1996 they got smart and signed these people up for absentee ballots. Then they drove around, followed the mailmen, and picked up the absentee ballots on mail delivery day. Sometimes the absentee ballot got to the right person, and they would throw it away because they thought it was junk mail. Then when they tried to vote, they were told they couldn't because they were sent an absentee ballot.

How smart can that be? Isn't tampering with or stealing US mail punishable by a $10k fine and up to 20 years imprisonment?

I never said that the libs were honest and smart.

I think that there were posts by Freepers in S. California in the 2002 election were hired rats were walking behind mailment picking up the absentee ballots.

What are the supposed penalties for election fraud for federal elections? That hasn't stopped the rats.

How many states were settled with a vote differential of less than 1000....Florida, New Mexico, ....what others?
This could be enough to push Kerry over the top if the same states that went to Gore goes to Kerry. The federal authorities need to be brought in and put the fear of God in these perps.

I'm from Lake County (Mentor) and I know that it is a very closely divided area that normally swings slightly to the GOP. It really is one of the critical swing areas in Ohio, so 1,000 illegal votes could make a huge difference around here. Extrapolate it to the entire state, and your talking about almost 50,000 votes! The margin here could definitely be less than that if the election starts tightening up, though right now I think Bush will win here comfortably.

This is normal. Why the big surprise?

To me the surprise is that these things are being reported (and hopefully investigated).

Which enemies? The problem with your argument is that the only enemies you can prove the person who committed the fraud was adhering to were one American political party or another. Since none of the political parties have been declared Enemies of the United States, then your argument fails.

Insofar as facts on the ground are concerned, you are correct that it really amounts to "treason" (redefined) this time, but it's not provable for the reasons in the paragraph above.

Probably just personal paranoia, but I can't help but think we will be hit between now and November 2nd, and election day looks to me to be the best possible way to disrupt the election and the country.

No one can ever argue for such a thing as "imputed" voting. You either vote or you don't. Why you fail to vote is irrelevant.

It's bad enough that morons (literally) are not only allowed to vote, but expected to.

The only votes that count are the ones cast. Why there aren't more is also irrelevant. We can also go to the French system: fail to vote, pay a fine.

There will be so much of the crap happening that many of us will be ready to wage civil war! I think the basements of all U. S. mosques be raided as they're probably filled to the ceiling with illegal ballots.

The NAALCP is just again showing its true "colors" (unfortunate play on words there) with the valiant communist Qweasy MoFuMe at the helm. Watch Palm Beach county.

We know fraud has existed for decades but now it truly worrisome, even critical.

Why?

The last decade has witnessed the spurt of information technology around the globe. It is now possible to obtain voter registration lists and use that information in multiple jurisdictions.

The enforcement apparatus is completely inadequate to deal with a deluge of fraudulent ballots and registrations.

America's enemies e.g. Soros, are financially capable of funding IT trained persons to skew election results by fraud in battleground states. What's worse is that any discovery of such fraud in a post-election aftermath will be viewed as sour grapes and will never be prosecuted by a new AG.

America's enemies see America as socially weak. This 'social weakness' is made manifest in its loose election protocols.

Indeed, if the election is kept out of the hands of those that would thwart faithful democracy, action must be taken to ensure fraud is never significant to effect an election outcome.

huh?? The Plain Dealer says that the NAACP is "nonpartisan"?? Thats odd, since even NAACP leaders complain that they live under the foot of the DNC.

Isn't ACT the same group that was hiring convicted felons to go door-to-door passing out literature? Including sexual offenders?
Tells ya a little something about this group.

I agree there's nothing surprising here, but if this gets reported, it could be a big story.

Lake County Board of Elections (Ohio), for all you non-Buckeyes.

440-350-2700

They have not mailed out any absentee ballots yet, believe they will start next week.

If you want to check to see if there had been an absentee ballot requested in your name:

Democrat - Amy
Republican - Lee

If you want to volunteer to be a paid pollworker in 02Nov ask for:

Republican - Aimee Emming
Democrat - Diane Henderson

If you want to be a paid election marshal on 02Nov ask for:

Republican - Jan Clair
Democrat - Linda Hlebak

We are always in need of good people on both sides of the aisle to work the elections. Many times we wind up with people who do not know how to alphabetize, (when they are looking up your name?), are hard of hearing, (say that again sir? and don't mumble), or can't deal with a rush of people who usually have to get to work. (I'm going just as fast as I can).

I started off about eight years ago to see for myself how the inside worked, especially because we had the old green monsters for voting machines with the rows for Dems, Repubs, and everyone else.

Now we have newer machines that have buttons and lights but are not touchscreen. The votes are recorded on a tape which is pulled out of the machine at the end of the day and given to the BOE.

It costs me two days of vacation a year, and that is my contribution to being civic minded.

In God We Trust…..Semper Fi!
