[HUGE POSSIBLE SCANDAL] 1,000 cases of suspicious voter registrations
Cleveland Plain Dealer ^ | 9/24/2004 | Steve Luttner and Michael Scott

Posted on 09/24/2004 7:25:29 AM PDT by amordei

More than 1,000 voter registration forms and absentee ballot requests may be fraudulent in Lake and Summit counties, where investigations of irregularities are broadening.

Lake County Sheriff Daniel Dunlap said Thursday that he will investigate an attempt to register a dead person and other possibly fraudulent documents that were submitted to the Lake County Board of Elections. Advertisement

Dunlap also said he has notified the FBI and the Ohio secretary of state.

"We want to make sure the election here in Lake County is the best possible," Dunlap said. "I don't know if this was a concerted effort or if it was just an overzealous, independent person here and there who decided to push the envelope."

Elections officials have said hundreds of absentee ballot applications and dozens of voter registration cards are in question. Lake County Prosecutor Charles Coulson, also involved in the probe, said the problems are more significant than originally thought.

"We've seen voter fraud before, but never on this level," Coulson said Thursday. "I grew up in Chicago and this looks like the politics of Mayor Daley in the '50s and '60s."

Lake election and law enforcement officials said their investigation is centered on absentee registration attempts by the nonpartisan NAACP's National Voter Fund and an anti-Bush, nonprofit group called Americans Coming Together, or ACT Ohio.

The National Voter Fund could not be reached Wednesday or Thursday at its Washington, D.C., offices.

A spokesman for ACT Ohio, however, said the group believed the allegations would prove groundless.

Several registration applications submitted by campaign volunteers for a candidate are also being scrutinized, Lake elections board Director Jan Clair said.

None of the officials would identify the candidate, however.

Never mind.
It is 1,000 instances, not 1,000 cases of absentee ballots.

The tip of the iceberg has been uncovered.
Vote fraud will only worsen until perpetrators serve real jail time in real jails. And that won't happen anytime soon. Meanwhile, most elections will be won by the party who cheats the best and the most.

Those groups will never go down, they have diplomatic immunity hence the Church activism which most other churches would never get away with.

GWB needs to make an announcement that USAG Ashcroft is establishing a special office on vote fraud that will take all complaints of known or intended vote fraud, and that USAG will take appropriate action against the perpetrators.

We had heard in a meeting last spring that Ohio was going to be a battle ground state, but I don't think they imagined anything like this.

Not yet anyway. yesterday's story was about the folks in nursing home who couldnt sign but a shaky "X" now have perfect handwriting.

If I find out they tampered with my registration, ACT and NAACP will be sued.

I think there was a report on the local news in Nashville about a lot of voter registration forms that looked to be signed by the same person.

The only way to even start to get a handle on voter fraud is to demand ID for voting. You also have to require every absentee ballot be vouched for by a court officer to assure that the person who is 'voting' actually is the person making the selection.

It wouldn't hurt to get rid of "motor voter" BS and to require some type of "qualification exam" either...

Of course, I'm also in favor of requiring that every American serve the country in the form of a "draft" or some such, too...

This election is going to be a nightmare.

You are correct. Voter fraud, fraudulent claims of disenfranchisement, and my personal nightmare is that terrorists will hit polling places across the US on election day.

I have a scenario in my mind that scares the hell out of me...If terrorists hit polling locations early on November 2nd (hits the new immediately) what happens to turnout? I'm not worried about pubbies going to the polls, but it would probably suppress dim turnout considerably. Result would be HUGE landslide for Bush, but can you imagine the legal battle that would follow? Dims would use the lopsided numbers to argue that the election is invalid because people were afraid to vote, couldn't get to their polling place...sites that get hit would have to be closed, so where do those voters go to vote? If my turnout scenario is wrong and the election is close, same situation...they'll claim Kerry would have won if the terrorists hadn't hit us.

Probably just personal paranoia, but I can't help but think we will be hit between now and November 2nd, and election day looks to me to be the best possible way to disrupt the election and the country.

"I don't know if this was a concerted effort"

Uh huh, right, that sure is believable. Two leftist organizations are fingered. Organization. Two. Of course it is a concerted effort you nimnuts.

"We've seen voter fraud before, but never on this level," Coulson said Thursday. "I grew up in Chicago..."

A priceless juxtaposition of comments...

The NAACP and its supporters have been tarnishing black americans for years. Here's another case of the same.

Race.

When they are caught at it, the Dems scream racism and voter suppression. Pols to date haven't had the stones to take on the corrupt machine protected by such smears.

This year, it will happen everywhere. The Dems will manufacture 10 million votes. Voter "turnout" in some precincts will hit 200%. Unless we catch them in the act and prosecute them for it, they will steal brazenly and dare us to do something about it afterwards. Screaming racism the entire time, and less loudly, to each other, calling it payback for Florida (which was in fact another attempted steal, but didn't work) and "necessary" for "peace". All that Bush is Hitler crap isn't meant to win votes, it is meant to prepare activist consciences for the destruction of the democratic process.

After GW defeats Kerry, our new congress needs to pass a bill which makes voter fraud an act of treason.

That would require a Constitutional Amendment. Treason is defined inclusively in the Constitution already.

Art III Sec 3: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

Funny, because I was at the Lake County Board of Elections yesterday registering to vote in Ohio. I had the forms for 3 of us in my family. The only thing they JOKINGLY asked me was "Is anyone dead?"

I also asked where the Republican Headquarters were and one gal said "We don't have Republican Headquarters here in Lake County! ha ha!"

btw, there are NO signs, bumper stickers etc. here in Lake County for Bush......but everyone has them. I was told that I would have to go to LaTourette's office on Oct. 1 and they would have some....first come first serve. Anyone have any idea where these folks around here are getting Bush signs??
