I've googled to my heart's content, but can find no evidence of anyone but Iraqi and Coalition military folks there. My recollection was Shwartzkopf kept a very tight lid on the event. Does anyone have any info that can prove this one way or another? Bill might like to know that Kerry lied during his interview.

Don't click on the link for the O'Reilly show. It doesn't work.

If Kerry says he was there, I am sure Kerry typed up an offical document that proves it....I don't care if 250 people who were there claims he wasn't.

I've read about this, probably in Schwartz...'s (sp?) book. I can't believe for a sec. that Kerry was there, but that would be the best place to look I believe.

I would bet that it's another lie.

And, if you ask him about it he will deny he ever said it, call you an idiot scumbag, and tell you to shove it.

My understanding is that the Safwan party consisted only of military officers lead by General H. Norman Schwartzkopf. I suggest we check the pictures in "It Doesn't Take a Hero" of the signing. I think it would be difficult for Liveshot to have mananged not to throw himself in front of a camera lens.

Also, after a little checking, don't forget that Kerry voted against Desert Storm. If he was there, he would be having a crow dinner. The odds of him being there are extremely low.

Here is the most detailed information I could find...

"The choice of Safwan Airfield as the site for the formal cease-fire ceremony was dictated by a number of factors. These included Gen. Schwarzkopf's desire to conduct a hold the meeting deep inside Iraq so as to reinforce the idea that the Iraqis had been defeated. The location also had to be road-accessible so as to permit the Iraqi delegation to reach it. Safwan Airfield was eventually selected, although it still remained in Iraqi possession.

1-4 Cavalry Squadron, armed with two tank reinforced ground troops, two air cavalry troops, and one Apache attack helicopter company, was dispatched to capture the airfield and prepare it for the ceremony. The airfield, it was discovered, was being protected by an entire Iraqi Republican Guard armored brigade, in reveted positions slightly north of the airfield. Other Iraqi units were also located at other locations in the near-vicinity of the airfield.

Meeting with various senior Iraqi officers, the latter were told in blunt terms to either depart the area or face the prospect of decisive military action, even though this might have meant the US violating the cease-fire on Iraqi soil. Threatened with overwhelming force and retaliation if refusing to comply with US instructions, Iraqi troops eventually retreated from the Safwan Airfield.

The Iraqi delegation arrived by road at a coalition checkpoint several miles from the airfield. From there, it was transported to the ceremony site using HMWVV vehicles and escorted by escorted by Bradley Fighting Vehicles, two M1A1s Abrams, and two Apaches Attack helicopters, at 11:30 a.m. local time.

The meeting lasted two hours between seven Iraqi Generals and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf. It was observed by coalition generals from saudi Arabia, Britain, France, Kuwait, Egypt, Syria, among others. The meeting resulted in Iraqi Generals accepting all of the U.S.-led coalition's conditions for a permanent cease-fire. "http://www.globalsecurity.org/intell/library/imint/safwan.htm

What am I missing here. I don't see anything about "...and assorted Senators."

I think Bill O'Reilly has been spun. I wonder if he'd like to know.

If gigilo john was there he was under a table. I have looked at all the pictures I have and seen the conference table from every possible angle and no kerry. What a suprise.

Then on the other hand, along with his other many talents, maybe he teleported himself there while no one was watching. What an idiot. This is at least as good as inventing the Internet...astral projection. Lord, what next?

Why would John Kerry be there?

He was against that war, too.

"I mean, I was in Safwan. I went there when the signing of the armistice took place at the end of the war."

To be fair sKerry doesn't say he was at the actual signing of the armistice but that he was in the city of Safwan when it was signed.

This is insame. If Kerry told another quasi-lie about being somewhere that he's neer been then he's a bigger fool than I thought. Unless he was under the table I don't see him in the picture. Anybody know BOR's direct line?
