The legacy media is crooked. Gasp. What a stunning loss
of innocence. And all the poor guy was trying to do was
bring down a President with documents he wasn't sure
were authentic.

Amusing, but we need to treat this with the same respect
that we gave the memos, unless Burkett has evidence, by
which I mean "real" evidence.
On the contrary, the meanderings of an addled man must be given the same consideration as the questions about the National Guard.
After all, the messenger doesn't matter. It's the seriousness of the charges he brings forth.
This time I don't doubt Burkett. It's because he's the perfect fall-guy (seizures, doncha know) that Lockhardt AND Mapes knew he'd do--especially if the documents passed muster. Unfortunately, they didn't; and things begin to unravel . . .
Hmmm... Interesting take... I believe that Lockhart has said that "the phone call" lasted for only two or three minutes. So, there might be evidence in the form of phone records, which could validate or disprove at least that piece of Lockhart's story (of course, that evidence would be in Lockhart's possession, not in Burkett's hands).
Mapes, also, could add pieces to the puzzle by coming clean on exactly what she told Lockhart and/or other Kerry campaign insiders, but that is not very likely.
Inquiring minds might want to know not only the duration of that call, but whether or not there were other calls between Lockhart and Burkett, and/or between Lockhart and CBS, as well as who Lockhart may have called immediately after talking with Burkett. Sometimes, in the absence of an actual intercept (as an aside, I wonder whether such a thing exists), the traffic analysis can fill in some of the blanks...
"unless Burkett has evidence, by
which I mean "real" evidence".
Sorry, it's not the EVIDENCE that matters here, it's the SERIOUSNESS of the CHARGE!
