I'm glad to see the WaPo giving this some much needed coverage.

President Bush, after a campaign appearance in Bangor, held his plane on the tarmac when he heard an MD-11 carrying 292 Army reservists and National Guard members was about to refuel here. For the troops, grimly heading toward an 18-to-24-month assignment in Iraq, it was a welcome lift. For Bush, who has been accusing his Democratic presidential opponent, Sen. John F. Kerry, of demoralizing the troops in Iraq by criticizing the war effort, it was a chance to demonstrate his devotion to the troops.

Later in the article it mentions that the president donned a suit coat and tie to meet these troops. What a show of respect! I love GWB!

BTW, sKerry did the same tarmac hair styling trick as Slick Willy.

What a decent and caring man this guy is! He really goes out of his way to thank the troops and take time to meet everyone!

God bless him. I'm proud he is my President.

Dubya is a class act! Kerry can't fake that.

The president, who donned a tie and suit jacket after his political rally, offered gentle smiles and words such as "I'm proud of you" and "thank you."

OK, I only got this far until the tears made it hard to read.

Leave it to Dana Milbank to try to make this visit a negative:

Bush's impromptu visit with the departing soldiers came with some risk. It could remind the American public that more and more reservists and Guard members are being removed from their workplaces and sent on dangerous assignments in an increasingly bloody Iraq.

The contrast between Dubya and Kerry couldn't be any clearer.

John F. Kerry, we are told, stands "accused of demoralizing troops."

I would says that JFnKerry is actually, in fact, demoralizing our troops.

I know this from my personal conversations with troops and from my years of experience as a Chaplain....one of my duties being to advise the commander on many aspects of morale.

Specifically, Kerry tells them they are not really defending America...and that their sacrifices are a wasted effort, wasted time, and wasted lives.

The KKK (KorruptKerryKamp) has been demoralizing our troops for months.
