House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, says the House's passage of legislation protecting the language of the Pledge of Allegiance from runaway federal judges is a victory for families trying to teach their children respect for the role of faith in American life.
"The words 'under God' are as much a part of the Pledge of Allegiance as the flag itself," DeLay said. "Many federal judges have made no secret of their hostility to traditional values and religion in the public square, and the Pledge Protection Act will make sure those judges can't impose their personal prejudices on the rest of us.
"State courts should be free to determine this issue without the interference of unaccountable federal judges."
The Pledge Protection Act gives state courts the right to determine the constitutionality of the Pledge of Allegiance. The act passed by a vote of 247-173.
It's clear if you look at the people who went to school in the 50 years the Pledge didn't have "Under God" in it (up to 1950) they all became a bunch of Godless Commies.
While every kid who went to school after "Under God" was added to the Pledge (after 1950) became a God-fearing patriot. Why, just look at the 1960s and 1970s and what those kids were like when they became young adults!
(Sarcasm off.)
Maybe we could add "under God, not the butcher Allah" to the pledge.
Might as well, that's what this country would surely become.
