Note: this is a cross post necessitated by the heated comments on this topic: By my screen name you can tell I have a special interest in this matter. I think that about 90% of Muslims are technically innocent, although many of them they will have to do a lot more than they are to prove their loyalty. That is, most of them aren't turning in the terrorists and those that support them. It's public knowledge that the terrorists are liable to make another massive attack before our election this year, just as they did in Spain, to try to influence the vote. Please, whatever happens, remain law abiding.

In the first place, it's the right thing to do. In the second place, you could go to jail if you're caught. Finally, we don't want to alienate the innocent Muslims. We need people who look like Muslims and know the culture to root out the terrorists. The old saying is you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Besides, we need to convert them without violating their free will, not persecute them wholesale.

Proclamations like there are no innocent Muslims are counterproductive in the long term and needlessly inflammatory in the short term.

I am sorry, but if only 100 influential muslims out of a billion condemn their murdering brothers, it might stand to reason that functionally, for all practical purposes, if their mullahs are spouting hate from their mosques world-wide daily, "there are no innocent muslims" appears to be simply stating a fact.

Let's assume I'm a nice guy. I work, love my kids, I'm charitable, don't beat my wife etc.

But I identify myself as a member of religion that preaches intolerance for all other religions, that decrees an unceasing war until all of Mankind either converts to my religion or is put to the sword. A religion that claims to mandate every aspect of behavior. A religion sworn to supplant any other political system with the laws of my religion.

Heck, I don't believe half of what my religion teaches but I keep quiet and I still proclaim myself to be a member of that religion.

Am I innocent?

Was there some particular reason why you felt compelled to post this missive to me? Was there something that you saw in my earlier post that indicated to you that I am unfamiliar with the concept of fairness. The intent of the law? Was there some indication from my posting history that your platitudes were necessary to quell a particular urge I have to behave in a less than above-board manner? I see that you have posted this identical message across numerous threads, to seemingly random posters, so I will not take it personally.

I have never proclaimed that there are "no innocent Muslims". But the actions of Muslims around the world, their bombings, and beheadings, and duplicitiousness, and deceptions, all done in the name of their God and for their God's reward, have painted a picture of an ideology that is fundamentally incompatible with the principles I grew up with.
