I can't believe the Syrians were so stupid as to use those weapons (except as a suicidal gesture towards Israel). It's like painting a giant bulls eye for a JDAM on your butt.
Then again, their intelligence (gathered from the NYT, Le Monde, Die Zeit, etc) probabley assured them that E'fn al-Qerry was a shoe-in, and that they didn't have to worry about any reprisals from a more sensative and diplomatic USA.
