I'm sure as a liberal advocate on the behalf of free speech it was in inadvertent error. Hey, it seems to have worked for Berger.

Yup... allow me to correct the sentence:

MINNEAPOLIS - State Rep. Phyllis Kahn (D) pleaded guilty to theft on Thursday for stealing campaign literature.

The Osterman-Peterson race will be among the more hard-fought contests this fall in the battle for control of the House. Democrats are targeting seats in first-ring suburbs in their effort to win back the majority. Republicans have controlled the chamber since 1999 and had an 81-53 edge during the 2004 session.

Lawn signs could be the harbinger of a fortunate outcome, I hope. When I was driving around in that district a few weeks ago, I saw about 6 times as many Osterman signs as Peterson signs.

I think this info will answer that question:

"Kahn, a DFLer and 32-year legislative veteran, had already apologized to Republican House member Lynne Osterman for taking her campaign brochures"

knowing the area she represents, she'd have to be caught
harboring Al Queda to face any political repercussions.
Even then, she'd be re-elected.

"Something is missing from the opening sentence..."

Nope. Everything the Pioneer Press wants you to think about this individual is right there. To wit:

"State Republican Phyllis Kahn pleaded guilty to theft on Thursday ..."

Certainly you don't expect them to waste the ink (which they buy by the barrel) to spell out "Representative", do you?
