While I applaud his bold stance, it's almost certainly political suicide.

I have to disagree.

He knows his constituency better than we do. There are pockets of Bush support in Boston.

He didn't have to endorse anyone -- he could have kept his mouth shut.
I don't know Brookline or Mass., for that matter, but logic dictates he wouldn't greatly risk his job for an endorsement.
