ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Next month nearly everyone living in Alaska will receive a payment of $919.84, thanks to dividends from a $27.4 billion trust fund set up with some of the state's oil wealth.

Just got back from Alaska. You wouldn't believe how it irks the liberals (mostly teachers) that the state sends that check instead of giving it to them. They are really pissed!
Secondly, the people of Alaska that I met,(mostly people in business) are so naive, that they don't understand why a bunch of eastern liberals are allowed to tell them how to run their state! Why, they say...what business is it of theirs?

That's about 1/2 the average yearly income of the inhabitants of the oil-rich mideastern countries..
IIRC, pre-war income of the average Iraqi citizen was about $1800.00 a year..
