A school district that participated in a terrorist-attack response drill apologized for using a scenario in which children were threated by a fictitious radical group that believes everyone should be homeschooled.

The made-up group, called Wackos Against Schools and Education, was invented by the local government emergency services director.

The Muskegon Area Intermediate School District, or MAISD, in Michigan said it "shared the disappointment of others" when it learned Tuesday's preparedness drill referenced home schoolers as the fictitious group responsible for a mock disaster.

"We apologize," the district said in a statement. "The MAISD and local districts were not aware of the scenario, and it was not shared with students or parents who took part in the exercise."

That school district should be very sorry. It is one of the reasons I no longer trust the public school system. I think homeschooling may be the way to go.

The public school system is too much like the liberals in general: blame America first, America is racist, America is bad, blah, blah, blah, and they ignore that America dominates the world militarily, culturally, economically, and technologically for one very good reason. It's the best country on the planet and its worth defending.

Homeschoolers are not regarded as boogeymen by the general public. The only people who think of them that way are NEA change agents.

No one knows if the FEMA guy is a liberal: my experience has been that these local directors are retired military, like beer a lot, and are flag-flyin' types.

This guy might be home schooled...he might have home schooled his kids...or some of his grand kids are.

The invention, I'm sure, was dripping in sarcasm...so absurd as to be laughable. IT WAS A JOKE! And might even be a gentle slap at the liberal mindset.

I home schooled my kids, BTW. I take no umbrage. I've often been chastised for sarcasm, misunderstood as vituperate invective...it happens. (stop acting like PC liberals...) Flame away.
